What a difference some paint makes

I believe our master bathroom was the one room in our house that was not painted. As you can see in the before picture it was very very very white and sterile looking. So we painted the walls a rust color and Blake worked his tail off painting the cabinets white for me. Yes for me. I love wood cabinets but only if they are a darker stain. Sorry, not a fan of the light oak cabinets. But I also love painted cabinets and really missed the ones we had in California. I love them!!

We are considering painting our kitchen cabinets next. Of course that will have to happen over the summer when Andrew and I aren't in the house. Way too big of a job for us to be around. Sorry honey, I'd love to stay and help you but Maui is calling. LOL :-)

So, what do you think??

Wisdom Wednesday

Makes you stop and think doesn't it? So often we don't do things because we think it won't work out or we are afraid of failure.

And just like that...

We had a really big spring snow storm hit us this past Tuesday. It started out raining snowballs. Really! Apparently it's called groppling. Then it started raining with thunder and lightning. Then snowing with more thunder and lightning. (Didn't know that was possible!) Then just pure snow and lots of it! Here are pictures I took throughout the storm from our back patio. Just to show you how fast the weather changes around here.

I went out front to check and see if Blake was home yet and saw this hurd of Deer walking down the street in front of our house.

And just like that poof!!! It's all just about gone.

Mother nature make up your mind!

70 degrees at 3 pm and snowing at 10 pm. Really? This is how it's been here the past week. The funny thing is I kinda like it! Yesterday we had a beautiful day in the mid 60's and today we are under a Winter Weather Advisory and they are expecting 6-12 inches of snow in our area.

So bare feet one day, snow boots the next! Happy spring!

What a goofball...

Hello spring.

It's the first day of spring (or at least it was when I took these pictures) and this is what it looks like here in Colorado. I couldn't resist poking fun at the recent spring snow storm we had. Instead of planting flowers we (Blake) was shoveling the drive way. Better weather is on its way though! At least for a few days anyway. -)

Andrew couldn't resist jumping in the water puddle in the garage on the way back inside. That is what rainboots are for, right?

Here is to a happy and warm spring!!

Wisdom Wednesday

Another quote from notebook doodles. Getting out of your comfort zone can be well... uncomfortable but you never know what wonderful things are out there if you don't push yourself. You'll be amazed at how proud of yourself you are for trying new things and taking chances. It can be scary but oh so worth it!
Hope you had a great Wednesday!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Easter goodies!!

Easter already? I know! It just snuck up on me.

I just realized Andrew's class Easter party is next Wednesday and I'd better get started on what he's going to hand out to his buddies. A few years ago I saw the saying "For My Peeps" somewhere online and I'd always kept that in the back of my head because I thought it was so cute! So, this year I decided to use it.

I used cellophane bags, dropped in the peeps and stapled a green piece of folded cardstock (5x5) to the top of the bag. Then I created the "For my peeps." label on the computer and used my Spellbinder die for the scallop circle. Punched two small holes to the right to make a bow, added a small spellbinder "from Andrew" tag and a green button to finish it off. Easy, peasy lemon squeezy. ;-)

You could also add some grass at the bottom of the bag but I didn't have any and well I just wasn't up for a trip to Target.

Anyone else making treats for Easter????

Mini spring photo session

I've been busy the past week working on a new pricing structure and portrait collections for my business. I am finally done and am very pleased with the new look of my pricing sheets and what I am offering my clients. One of the new offerings this year is a mini digital session. Andrew was nice enough to help me out in showcasing the mini. He is a pro at it now! I can't tell you how many mini sessions I've done with this kid over the past year.

Here are some pics from our session... Have a great Monday!

Biggest Loser - Week 10

Congratulations Nate on being the biggest loser of the week the second week in a row!! The full results are below.

This next week will be an exciting one. It marks our half way point and I'll be posting not only the biggest loser of the week but where we all stand cumulatively and who is in the lead at this point. We really need to dig deep and stay motivated. I can hardly believe it's March and before you know it it'll be May and summer will be here and we will wish we had worked harder at losing the weight. I say this because I know I haven't been giving it 100% the past few weeks. :-)

Have a great weekend!

Wisdom Wednesday

I chose this photo because it's all out of focus but I love it. So I thought it was perfect for this quote. Typically an out of focus picture is the wrong way of taking a photo but in this case it was right.

I had a hard time this morning coming up with a quote for today and so I decided to wait. Wait until something really hit home and meant something to me. Then I had a moment with a friend when she said these very words to me. "There is no wrong way to do the right thing."

These ten words so simple yet so effective. I felt better instantly and when I start to feel upset about a certain situation I think of this quote and it brings me back to where I want to be. I don't want to be jaded or angry.

When you do the right thing for someone else and they do not do the right thing in return it's not your fault and you can't change it. You'd hope that your sacrifice for that person and kindness to them would be appreciated but apparently it doesn't always work out that way. Instead the opposite can happen. You can either be mad or you can move on. I have chosen to move on and while I'm not usually one to let friends go in this case it's the only way I've found to move on and to protect myself. Sometimes you just have to do that. Be loyal to yourself first and everything else will fall into place.

Okay I'll step off my soapbox now. I usually don't use this blog to vent my feelings of frustration or hurt. I've only used it for positive things and things that make me smile. So....on to our regularly scheduled program!! ;-)

OH Worms!!!

We spent the better part of the day Sunday outside working in the yard. Andrew's new favorite activity is to find and play with worms. He gathers them all up in one place and just laughs at them. Here he is naming them. Fred, Henry, Cleitus, George...

Could they act more alike? Monkey see monkey do. LOL

You know nicer weather is here when you get to play with the water hose. What is it about the water hose and boys?

A hiking we will go! {Roxborough Park}

It has been absolutely beautiful here the past few days and today was no exception. It definitely feels like spring! So,we took off for a new adventure and went hiking at Roxborough Park. We hiked about 2 1/2 miles and had a wonderful time. Andrew had a lot of fun exploring and playing with sticks.

This place was so pretty. I can only imagine what it will look like in the spring and fall. We will be going back for sure!
