First Snow of Fall 2010

I was getting ready to post the first snow of 2010 but really we've had snow up through May of this year but we did have the first snow after five months... typically we get snow in October.  In fact last year we had it in the beginning on October.  So the snow this year was highly anticipated and enjoyed BIG time!!

Caught a little off guard we didn't have snow pants for Andrew or matching gloves and his shoes are from two seasons ago.. he swears they still fit.  Ya, right buddy!  He was just afraid I was going to tell him he couldn't play outside.  We are supposed to get another stronger storm this evening and it's fore casted to snow off and on all day on Thursday.  So, off to Target we go today to get some snow gear. :)  FUN!!

Hello spring.

It's the first day of spring (or at least it was when I took these pictures) and this is what it looks like here in Colorado. I couldn't resist poking fun at the recent spring snow storm we had. Instead of planting flowers we (Blake) was shoveling the drive way. Better weather is on its way though! At least for a few days anyway. -)

Andrew couldn't resist jumping in the water puddle in the garage on the way back inside. That is what rainboots are for, right?

Let's go sledding.

This past Sunday we got about 8 inches of snow! Andrew has been waiting for this day for over a month. Daddy got him this cool new sled that says you have to be 5 to ride it so he was waiting for his birthday and then waiting for the snow. This new sled did not disappoint. It is FAST!!

We came back home and made snow angels in the front yard. Then headed indoors for some hot cocoa and snacks!

Snow Fun & Pumpkin Pie

Hey Andrew what do think Santa is going to bring you this year? His response.... This is SO Andrew. He always makes this crooked smile when he's thinking about something.


So, we got a bit more snow yesterday and it was COLD all day long. Like 20 degrees cold. BRRRRR... Thankfully today is supposed to be warmer and it is going to be warm all week. I love winter and the snow but I'm not ready for it to get this cold yet!

So we had one of the lazy snow days and stayed inside working on crafts, went outside and took lots of pictures, came back inside for hot cocoa (with extra marshmallows please) and watched movies and played board games. Then we had to bake, so we made pumpkin pie Paula Deen style. YUMMY!! You can get the recipe here.

Snow & Swim

First we woke up to this.... really? Unbelievable. They said we might get a dusting but we got about 3 inches and it was still snowing when we woke up. The snow was all gone by the afternoon though.


Then, Andrew had his first swim lesson for this year. He tried it last year and loved it at first but for some reason got spooked. He's back at it again and loving it.

Snowy day

The amount of snow we got and are still getting is unbelievable!! I think we are at around 3 feet now. We went out this morning to try and clean the driveway out a bit. Our neighbors let us borrow their snow blower. Definitely helpful but it isn't working too well in this wet heavy snow. But it's better than shoveling the whole thing!

We made a spring snowman complete with flower stalks for arms. :-)

Sledding Fun

Andrew has been patiently waiting to go sledding all winter and he finally got his wish today. He and I went sledding for over 2 hours and had a blast. We came back home and had some hot cocoa and are resting now. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow. How sad is that?

Spring Snow Storm!

We finally got a big spring snow storm. Yippee!! It's been snowing all day and is suppose to continue through tomorrow morning. I've really been missing all the snow days we usually have. We haven't gone sledding yet and we are definitely doing that tomorrow when it finally stops. Andrew can't wait!
He ventured out a bit this afternoon because he just couldn't wait any longer. I warned him it was too cold (10 degrees, -4 with the windchill) but he didn't care. He lasted about 10 minutes but had fun throwing the snow up in the air. I caught a few shots of him doing this.
We spent the rest of the day watching Monsters, Inc. and baking chocolate chip cookies. Snow days are the best.

SNOW DAY!

What a surprise to wake up to this...

I had heard grumblings of snow but didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it wouldn't happen. I was so excited when I woke up and it was snowing... A LOT! Well, we only ended up with about 6 inches but it was the perfect amount to play in. :-)
