Tornado Season is official here.

We had a tornado warning this past Thursday. It was a dreary rainy morning but by the time I picked Andrew up from school is was gorgeous outside and we were planning to go to the park after the gym. I got to the gym and about 30 minutes later the alarms went off and they said there was a tornado warning and it wasn't going to be lifted for 45 minutes. So,I headed to the child center to check Andrew out and soon found out that wasn't going to happen . They wouldn't release the children until the warning was over. So, off to the locker room floor we sat. About 10 minutes later the child care supervisor came in and asked every to duck their heads down and cover them with their heads. WHAT????????????????????? Then she whispered to me "It's over us right now." WHAT IS OVER US?? So, I'm thinking the tornado is touching down and throwing our cars all over the place. Oh boy. Really? I thought Denver NEVER got tornado's and here we are 9 months after the big one that touched down a mile from our house.

Well we were finally released and to my surprise (thank goodness) it was just a really strong storm with lots and lots of hail.

Here are some pics I took with my iPhone. The sky was extremely dark and the hail looked like a blanket of snow.

Andrew handled himself really well. When I asked him if he was scared he shrugged his shoulders and said, "uhh... a little bit." He's such a boy.

Oh and just for the record it rained all evening and we woke up to snow in the morning and white out conditions. I'm happy to report it has finally stopped raining and the sun is shining.
Only in Colorado can you have a tornado, thunderstorms, a blizzard and sun shine in a 48 hour period.

And just like that...

We had a really big spring snow storm hit us this past Tuesday. It started out raining snowballs. Really! Apparently it's called groppling. Then it started raining with thunder and lightning. Then snowing with more thunder and lightning. (Didn't know that was possible!) Then just pure snow and lots of it! Here are pictures I took throughout the storm from our back patio. Just to show you how fast the weather changes around here.

I went out front to check and see if Blake was home yet and saw this hurd of Deer walking down the street in front of our house.

And just like that poof!!! It's all just about gone.

Mother nature make up your mind!

70 degrees at 3 pm and snowing at 10 pm. Really? This is how it's been here the past week. The funny thing is I kinda like it! Yesterday we had a beautiful day in the mid 60's and today we are under a Winter Weather Advisory and they are expecting 6-12 inches of snow in our area.

So bare feet one day, snow boots the next! Happy spring!

What a goofball...

Foggy, Snowy & Frosty

I woke up yesterday morning expecting it to be snowing as it was fore casted. Nope it was clear as a bell, clouds out in the distance but really clear. Hmm... So, Andrew and I went upstairs to get ready for school and by the time we got out of the shower the fog had rolled in. Yes, fog. Here? We don't get fog very often and this was freezing fog so all the trees had frost all over them.

Andrew just kept saying I can't see over there! Where did my school go? I can't see it! If only he knew the place he was born has fog that is 10 times worse than any fog we'll ever see here. We could still see the yellow line on the road and didn't have to drive 5 miles an hour and get so disoriented we had no idea where we were even though we've traveled on the same road for over 20 years. Okay, so a little exaggeration but I do remember those times in California when you just couldn't see anything and it was scary.

It turned to snow showers in the afternoon with some big beautiful flakes floating down. I tried to capture them with my camera but it just didn't do them justice. Then it just got cold and I mean COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD. It started out at 10 or 12 and by the afternoon it was 5 without the wind chill and it was windy.

We had playgroup in the afternoon and it decided to get nice and icy just in time for our drive home. That was NOT fun. I'm a wimp when it come to driving in icy conditions. Thank goodness Blake is home today so he can be our chauffeur!

Here are some pictures of our foggy snowy frosty day. (Yes, Andrew is holding a coin in the below photo. When I asked him if we could take some photos in the fog he said, "Okay! Let me get my coin first." "Huh?" Perhaps it's his lucky coin. ;-)

Absolutely frigid.

Yep, the flip flops have been exchanged for Uggs. The word to describe the weather today is frigid. It just "looks" cold outside and it is. We've had freezing fog so everything is covered in a light layer of ice. Beautiful to look at and take pictures off. Not so nice to be out in. It's 17 outside right now, feels like 5. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder. Woo-hoo! Yes, I really have grown to like this cold weather but am thankful for those warm days we get in between.

Here are some pictures of our winter wonderland. :-)

Unbelievably cold

I can't even begin to tell you how cold it has been here again today so I'll just show you! Yes you are reading it right -4. Without the windchill! It was actually -11 when I woke up this morning it decided to make it's way all up to -4 by 9 a.m. I don't think it got over 0 all day. We only have a few days like this each winter but when we do it makes me thankful I don't live in Alaska. I can't imagine living in weather like this for long!

Okay enough whining. I threw in some pictures of Andrew dressing up as Spiderman!
